Burst Pressure (Burst Pres•sure)

1. The capacity of an object (such as pipe or tubing) to maintain its continuity when subjected to pressure.

2. The pressure, expressed in pounds per square inch, that would burst a pipe, or tube, under controlled conditions.

3. A non- operational pressure level in excess of the proof pressure established to provide an additional margin of safety in the event of unscheduled pressure in excess of operation level.
